Purchasing Airtime for Your Straight Talk Phone

You can purchase airtime service cards online or from a Wal-Mart store.  Depending on your budget, you can purchase either the $30 or $45 card or you can purchase the higher denominations of $135 or $270 (when I checked the $540 service card wasn’t offered online).  After purchasing the service card, go to the Straight Talk website and enter your phone number and service PIN to add time to your account.

Straight Talk also offers the auto-refill option which will automatically refill your plan on the last date of service. If that isn’t what you want, Straight Talk also has something called a reserve plan.

With the reserve plan you can, you can add several cards at a time. When the service kicks in depends on the plan type. If you have the unlimited plan the service kicks in on the last day of service.  If you don’t have the unlimited plan, you can choose when the service kicks in (you can manage your plan online).

What Folks are Saying about Straight Talk

Before purchasing the Straight Talk services, spend a little time reading reviews.  Because the service is relatively new, it’s tough to get a fair shake.  The most common complaint about the Straight Talk service is its poor customer service and the inability to roll over unused minutes from month to month on the $30 plan.

Keeping this information in mind, do your due diligence.  Take a little extra research time before committing to the Straight Talk prepaid cell phone plan.
