If you’re considering a pre-paid phone service, you might want to think twice before you select Verizon as your service carrier especially if you’re opting for the family plan.
According to the recent article on ABC’s Action News, Verizon proved to be more expensive if you opted for their prepaid service than if you ha a contract plan. AT&T offers a cheaper prepaid than contract plan.
Determine Your Usage
The article recommends determining the type of usage plan you’ll need. As an individual with low phone requirements, Consumer Cellular’s no-contract plan is the way to go. It’s even cheaper if you’re an AARP member as you get a 5% discount.
If you’re going for a family plan you’ll have to do a lot more calculating. Try to determine each individual’s usage and then search for a plan where you’ll get the most bang for your buck.
Most plans allow you to use an existing phone when switching plans. However, if you don’t have a phone and must purchase it from the phone service provider, be prepared to pay full price if opting for the prepaid option. Consumer Cellular allows you cover the cost of the phone over a period of several months which makes the purchase price easier to swallow.
There was a time when life was easy without a cell phone, but those days are long gone. Cell phones (especially Smartphones) have become a way of life and most of us are lost without them.
